You’ve done everything right. ChatGPT wrote you the perfect script. Your lighting is dialed in. You know exactly what you want to say. But the second that camera turns on, something shifts. Your throat gets tight. Your voice sounds flat. You forget your lines, or worse—you stop mid-sentence because it just doesn’t feel like you.

If you’ve been struggling with how to feel confident on camera, here’s the thing: it’s not your script’s fault. It’s not even your setup. What’s actually happening is your nervous system is trying to protect you, and no AI tool on the planet can fix that for you.

The thing is:

→ AI can write brilliant scripts, but it can’t regulate your nervous system or help you feel confident on camera

→ Your audience feels your state before they process your words—tension, overthinking, and stress show up even with perfect content

→ A 2-minute pre-recording reset (breath work, grounding, intention-setting) shifts you from robotic to real

→ When you’re regulated, your natural camera confidence comes through—that’s what builds trust and connection

But here’s what most people miss:

→ They blame the content when the real issue is their physiological state

→ Pushing through camera anxiety to “just get it done” trains your body to associate filming with stress

→ The most magnetic videos often have imperfect production but grounded energy—your nervous system state trumps polish every time

What’s Really Happening When You Freeze on Camera

Let me walk you through what’s actually going on when you sit down to film and suddenly all your camera confidence disappears.

Your brain and body are wired for survival, not for the spotlight. Being seen through a lens triggers the same stress response as standing in front of a live crowd.

For some of us, our system might freeze up. For others, we go into fawn mode—trying to be overly likable or polished. Some of us just go completely blank.

This isn’t just fear of filming. It’s fear of being fully seen. And that’s deeply human.

Here’s the catch: unless you regulate before you film, your body will try to protect you by muting your message. It’ll tighten your throat, make your voice sound flat, or cause you to forget everything you practiced. And no amount of AI assistance can override that survival response.

I’ve worked with clients who tell me all the time: “I had the script. I used ChatGPT. I prepped the bullet points. But once I hit record, something felt off. I didn’t feel like myself.”

That’s not a content problem. That’s a nervous system signal. And understanding this is the first step in learning how to feel confident on camera consistently.

The Real Source of Camera Confidence (It’s Not What You Think)

Most advice about building camera confidence focuses on the wrong things. Practice more. Get better lighting. Memorize your script. Film yourself repeatedly until you get comfortable.

But here’s what that advice misses: you can practice a thousand times, and if your nervous system isn’t regulated, you’ll still feel off. Because camera confidence doesn’t come from repetition alone—it comes from feeling safe in your body while being seen.

Your audience can feel your state even if they can’t explain it. They might not consciously think, “Wow, she seems tense,” but on some level, they’re picking up on whether you feel safe in your body or not.

Energy is the invisible ingredient your audience responds to most. It’s why you can watch someone with no makeup, terrible lighting, maybe even talking from their car—and they still pull you in.

That grounded presence, that natural flow you feel when you’re just talking to a friend—that’s real camera confidence. That’s what makes people lean in.

And that only shows up when you’re safe in your body.

Think about it. You’ve probably scrolled past perfectly polished videos that just didn’t land. The lighting was great. The editing was clean. But something felt… off. Meanwhile, you’ve probably stopped scrolling for a video that was technically a mess but the person’s energy just drew you in.

That’s not magic. That’s what it looks like when someone actually feels confident on camera—not performing confidence, but genuinely grounded and present.

Why Your Perfect AI Script Still Feels Wrong

Let’s get clear on what AI can and can’t do for you when it comes to camera confidence.

AI is brilliant at helping you:

→ Generate content ideas when you’re stuck

→ Expand on concepts you’ve outlined

→ Repurpose your content across platforms

→ Draft scripts that capture your voice (if you’ve trained it right)

→ Polish your messaging and structure

But here’s what AI can’t do: It can’t fix your energy. It can’t regulate your nervous system. It can’t make you feel confident on camera.

I use AI all the time.

I love it for shaping messages and expanding ideas. But when it comes down to actually filming, I am the transition point. I can say all the right words, and yet it will feel wrong if my body isn’t on board.

The same is true for you.

You could have the most perfectly crafted AI-generated script in the world, but if you’re holding tension in your shoulders, breathing shallow, overthinking how you’ll be perceived—all of that shows up on camera.

Your audience feels it, even if they can’t name it.

This is why so many content creators struggle even after they’ve “fixed” their scripts, upgraded their equipment, and practiced their delivery.

They’re addressing surface-level issues while the real problem—an unregulated nervous system—goes untouched.

The 2-Minute Reset That Builds Real Camera Confidence

You don’t need a 20-minute meditation before you film. You don’t need to spend an hour “getting in the zone.” You just need a 2-minute reset that tells your nervous system: we’re safe, we’re grounded, we’re ready.

Here’s what I do before I film, and what I teach my clients to help them feel confident on camera every single time:

Get comfortable. Place your feet flat on the floor. Feel the ground beneath you. This simple act of physical grounding sends a signal to your nervous system that you’re stable and supported.

Take three slow breaths into your body. Not shallow chest breaths—deep belly breaths that actually move through your system. This activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which is your body’s natural calm-down mechanism.

Move your body for 30 seconds. Stand up, shake it out gently, roll your shoulders. Physical movement helps discharge any built-up tension or stress energy.

Place a hand on your heart. This simple touch point is incredibly regulating. It’s a gesture of self-compassion that your nervous system recognizes.

Ask yourself: “How would I say this to someone I care about?”

Not “How do I perform this for the camera?” But genuinely—how would you explain this to your favorite client, your best friend, someone you love? That shift in perspective changes everything about your camera presence.

Then, and only then, open your AI tool to refine what you already feel clear about. Or if you’ve already got your script ready, turn on that camera and start filming. This is the sweet spot where preparation meets presence.

From Camera Anxiety to Camera Confidence: What Actually Shifts

When you film from a regulated state, everything changes. Your voice has natural inflection. Your facial expressions are authentic.

You remember your points without sounding like you’re reciting them.

You might even riff on your script in the moment because you’re present enough to respond to what’s coming through.

People can feel the difference.

They can feel when you’re tight, looking down, second-guessing yourself. And they can feel when you’re grounded, present, and speaking from a place of safety.

That regulated energy is what builds genuine camera confidence.

It’s what makes someone watch your video all the way through, comment, share it, or reach out to work with you. Not because your lighting was perfect or your script was flawless—but because they felt something real.

I’ve seen clients go from dreading video content to actually enjoying it once they understood this piece. Once they stopped trying to push through the camera anxiety and started working with their nervous system instead.

Why Pushing Through Camera Anxiety Doesn’t Work

Here’s what I want you to understand: every time you force yourself to film while in a stressed state, you’re actually training your body to associate video creation with danger.

You’re reinforcing the pattern that says, “Filming = threat. I need to get through this as fast as possible.”

That’s why it doesn’t get easier even after you’ve filmed dozens of videos. Your nervous system hasn’t learned that filming is safe. It’s learned that filming is something you have to endure.

But when you regulate first, you teach your body a different pattern.

You teach it: “Filming is safe. I can be myself here. I can be seen and it’s okay.”

That’s when video content stops feeling like a chore and starts feeling like a genuine way to connect with your audience. That’s when you start to actually feel confident on camera, not just look confident.

What Actually Makes You Feel Confident on Camera

Let me bring this all together for you.

AI is for support. It helps you come up with content ideas, expand your thinking, repurpose your message across platforms. It’s a tool, and a powerful one.

Your body is for safety. It’s the foundation that allows you to show up, be seen, and deliver your message without your nervous system hijacking the whole process.

Your voice is for truth. It’s what makes your message land. It’s what builds trust with your audience. It’s what makes people feel like they know you, even through a screen.

All three matter. But they have to work together.

Your message matters. Even if it’s generated with AI, your words matter. But your energy—that’s what makes it land. And AI can’t fix that for you. It can give you all the best words in the world, but if you’re not grounded and ready to show up, those words won’t connect the way you want them to.

Real camera confidence isn’t about having perfect words or flawless delivery. It’s about feeling safe enough in your body to let your authentic presence come through. That’s what your audience is actually responding to.

Your Next Steps to Building Lasting Camera Confidence

Before you open your AI tool, before you set up your camera, before you do anything—ask yourself: Have I regulated first, or am I just trying to push through and get this content out because I know I need to?

Your audience can feel the difference when you’re in a regulated state and flowing. And so can you.

So here’s my challenge to you: Next time you’re about to film, take those two minutes. Ground yourself. Breathe. Move. Connect with why you’re actually saying what you’re about to say. Then let AI help you polish the message you’re already clear on.

That’s how you go from feeling stiff and robotic on camera to actually showing up as yourself—the version of you that your audience wants to connect with. That’s how you build real, sustainable camera confidence that doesn’t depend on perfect scripts or ideal conditions.

Because at the end of the day, AI can help you shape the words. But only you can bring the energy that makes them real. And when you learn how to feel confident on camera by regulating your nervous system first, everything else falls into place.

What shifts for you when you regulate before you create?

Drop a comment and let me know your before-and-after experience, or what you struggle with most when it comes to showing up on video. I’d love to hear your ritual or the biggest challenge you’re working through right now.

What if I told you that you could make effortless video scripts with ChatGPT?

Have you ever sat in front of your computer, staring at a blank screen, wondering how to start writing a video script?

It’s like the words are playing hide and seek with you, right? Well, what if I told you there’s a magical helper that can make writing video scripts as easy as pie? Yes, I’m talking about ChatGPT! In today’s blog, I’m going to share with you how this amazing tool has transformed my scriptwriting process from a daunting task into a delightful dance of words. So, if you’re curious about making your video scriptwriting effortless, keep reading!

Why You Should Embrace Video Scripts with ChatGPT:

Save Precious Time: One of the biggest game-changers for me was how much time I saved. Writing scripts used to take me hours, sometimes even days.

But with ChatGPT, I can whip up a script in just about five minutes. Imagine what you could do with all that extra time!

Boost Your Creativity: Sometimes, we get stuck in our own heads, recycling the same ideas over and over. ChatGPT acts like a breath of fresh air, bringing in new perspectives and ideas that I wouldn’t have thought of on my own.

It’s like having a brainstorming buddy who’s always ready to inspire.

Multiply Your Content: With the 12x content creation method I use, ChatGPT helps me turn one video into a whole month’s worth of content.

It’s like magic!

You create one main piece and then slice it into smaller, digestible pieces that keep your audience coming back for more.

Personalize Your Scripts: One of my initial worries was losing my unique voice in the script.

But I discovered that ChatGPT is like clay – you can mold it to sound just like you.

It gives you a solid foundation that you can then sprinkle with your own stories, experiences, and personality.

Engage Your Audience: The real secret sauce to any successful video is engagement.

ChatGPT helps me craft questions and prompts that spark curiosity and encourage interaction.

It’s not just about delivering content; it’s about creating a conversation.

During my almost 2 decades of content creation, I’ve learned that embracing tools like ChatGPT can truly revolutionize the way we approach video scriptwriting.

It’s not just about making things easier for ourselves (though that’s a huge plus); it’s about enhancing our creativity, engaging our audience on a deeper level, and ultimately, creating content that resonates and makes a difference.

By leveraging ChatGPT, I’ve been able to save time, boost my creativity, multiply my content, personalize my scripts, and engage my audience like never before.

So, if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed by the thought of writing your next video script, I encourage you to give ChatGPT a try.

It might just be the partner in creativity you’ve been looking for. And remember, the goal is not to replace your unique voice but to amplify it, making your content creation process smoother and more enjoyable.

Ready to transform your video scriptwriting process and create content that captivates and converts?

Dive into the world of ChatGPT and discover the endless possibilities it offers. Don’t let the blank page win; start your journey to effortless, engaging video scripts today.

And if you’re looking for more insights and tips on making the most out of ChatGPT for your content creation, be sure to watch the video below.

Let’s make content creation a joy, not a chore.

Happy scripting!

It’s me, Kristen Poborsky, and I’ve got some exciting insights to share with you today.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’m all about creating content that not only resonates with your audience but also gets you the engagement you deserve.

Recently, I made a bold move that I can’t wait to tell you all about in my latest video on the Profitable Content Creator channel.

Why I Said Goodbye to Instagram and Hello to YouTube Shorts

Let’s face it, we’ve all been there—pouring our hearts into content only to be met with crickets on platforms like Instagram. That’s exactly what happened to me.

Despite having a decent following, the engagement just wasn’t cutting it. But instead of throwing in the towel, I decided to switch gears and give YouTube Shorts a whirl.

And guess what? It was a game-changer!

Crafting Content That Clicks

In my video, I dive deep into the nitty-gritty of how I research hot topics and plan my content. It’s not just about creating videos willy-nilly; it’s about understanding what your audience craves and delivering it in a format they love.

And right now, that format is YouTube Shorts.

They’re quick, they’re fun, and they have the potential to reach far and wide.

From Long-Form to Short and Sweet

One of the coolest things I’ve discovered is the magic of transforming long-form content into snappy YouTube Shorts. It’s like giving your content a second life!

Plus, it’s a fantastic way to ensure your message gets across in today’s fast-paced digital world where attention spans are shorter than ever.

Spread the Love Across Platforms

But why stop at YouTube? In my video, I share how you can take those same Shorts and sprinkle them across different platforms.

It’s all about making the most of what you’ve got and ensuring your voice is heard everywhere your audience hangs out, be it TikTok, Facebook, or even Instagram.

Now, I’m not just here to toot my own horn. I genuinely believe that the strategies I share in my video can make a real difference in your content creation journey.

Whether you’re just starting out or looking to shake things up, there’s something in it for everyone. You’ll learn how to:

– Navigate the shift from platforms like Instagram to the exciting world of YouTube Shorts.

– Craft content that’s not just good, but great—YouTube Shorts and video short-form content that truly connects with your audience.

– Master the art of creating engaging not just YouTube Shorts but short-form videos that pack a punch.

– Repurpose your content like a pro, saving time while maximizing your reach.

I’m super pumped to share all of this with you, and I can’t wait for you to dive into the video where I share the magic of YouTube Shorts.

It’s not just about changing platforms; it’s about transforming the way you think about and create content. So, what are you waiting for?

Let’s make your content not just seen, but felt and remembered!

Are you considering adding video to your website or content marketing efforts?

You should consider it. According to statistics, the video content is the number 2 most read/watched piece of content.

If you’ve heard that video marketing is the future, the future is here. This is the right time to put your efforts into creating a video.

Wondering if you have enough resources to create videos?

Wondering if enough people in your target audience interested in videos?

And are you wondering if in the end, will it be worth the effort?

The answer is yes, yes yes!

If that isn’t enough to convince you, here are some video marketing statistics that will inspire you:

85% of people online watch video – Statista 2018

54% of people say they want a video from brands and businesses they are interested in – Hubspot 2018

87% of marketing professionals use video to market themselves – Wyzowl 2019

Video marketing increases lead generation by 66% – Opt-In Monster 2018

Here’s a shortlist of video content that you can create to market your business.

Explaining your products or services

Vlogs (video blogs)

Case Studies

Tutorials

Product Reviews and demos

product demos,

Facebook Lives & stories

Instagram stories

Testimonials

Online Ads

I don’t know about you but I’ve struggled to get my system down so it is easy to make those videos.

Here’s how easy it is to set up your home video studio like a pro!

And I’ve added extra resources to this post including a workbook showing you how to set up your home video.

I wrestled with setting up my home video studio myself and thought there has to be a better way! So I turned to Youtube and got this simple 6 step process from one of the best in the business…James Wedmore.

Once I used his simple step-by-step process I was able to set up my studio and get rid of the shadows that had been plaguing me…

And…

To make it even easier for you I’ve put the entire process into a simple step-by-step tutorial that you can print out, add to your studio kit, and have handy every time you set up your studio…

Step 1: Essential Equipment

You can outfit your entire home video studio with the basics for less than $200 on Amazon.

Here’s a list to get you started:

Cowboy Studio Lighting Kit ($73 on Amazon)

Cowboy Studio Overhead Light ( $80 on Amazon optional)

Cowboy Studio Backdrop ($51.24 on Amazon)

60″ Camera Tripod ($23.49 Amazon Basics

Audio Technica Lavalier ($29 on Amazon)

New Light Ring ( $169 optional)

2. Setting Up Your Backdrop

When setting up your backdrop you want to position it 3 feet behind where you plan to stand when shooting your video. You want to appear like the polished expert that everyone wants to work with…

Take time to iron your backdrop fabric carefully and carefully inspect it when setting up.

Wrinkles and stains on your backdrop are a distraction.

Step 3: Setting Up Your Camera

Once you have your backdrop set up, mark 3 feet in front of it with some blue tape, or to make it even easier find a volunteer to help you with this part of the setup, it will go much faster if you are manning the lights and camera while your subject is standing where you want to film.

Place the camera 3 feet in front of your subject.

Adjust your camera height so you’re filming the subject at eye level. You’ll want to appear in the middle to upper 1/3rd of your camera/iPhone when it is horizontal.

Look at the example image above of how James is positioned… see where he is standing?

It’s what you want to achieve because you’ll have room around to position captions or copy when creating a custom thumbnail for your video when editing.

Step 4: Lighting Your Background

This is where it got tricky for me and I know this step is going to help you out…

Get your lights as close as possible to your background.

Position them at a 45-degree angle aiming them at your background – you want it to look super white with no shadows.

One on each side of your subject.

The next step is to light your subject and you may want to come back and play around with these background lights once again to make sure there aren’t any shadows on your backdrop…

Step 5: Lighting Your Subject

Lighting your subject is pretty much the same as lighting your backdrop.

You need two lights positioned at 45-degree angles on either side of your subject.

The first light you position is the primary light, just choose one side and light up that side of your face.

The second light is on the other side of your face also at a 45-degree angle and with this one, you will position it to fill in all of the shadows on the face of your subject.

Shadows on your face, on your backdrop, and overall dark lighting, are things that you want to avoid on your video

Take time moving this light around until you get it looking white and crystal clear on your video.

Now it’s time to make a test video.

Do this each time to make sure your lighting is set up and your audio is working perfectly.

I’ve saved myself a lot of time, tears, and headaches by running a test each time I shot one of my videos.

The Right Lighting is Critical

If you do anything, make sure your lighting is good! If you don’t have professional equipment or in a hurry, you can use natural lighting,

Here are a few more tips with examples to help you get your lighting just right

The third light – use this up high like the screenshot below. Place it high over your head to highlight and add extra depth to your video shoot.

Light Ring – This is used to add more light to your face plus you can put the colored ring on it to change the tone of your skin. Totally optional but if you’re serious about looking amazing on camera without having to do a bunch of additional editing this is a great tool to have.

Audio and Editing Tips

I would be remiss if I did not include a few more tips about audio and how to make editing simple!

Audio – Getting this right is just as important as your lighting. When you invest in a lavalier or a microphone, you will instantly upgrade the quality of your video. I’ve listened to podcasts and videos where the audio was terrible and I clicked off because of that. So do consider investing in some audio equipment, it will pay off in the end!

Editing – I would be remiss if I did not mention Screenflow – I use this tool to edit all of my videos…I used to struggle and hate the editing of my videos. So much so that I would shoot them and put them up unedited…not my best move. Now I can drag in music screenshots, bumpers and have fun editing my videos!

What are the 3 essential ingredients of great content?

Before you dive in or click off…I want you to know that what I share in the short video below is universal, whether you write content for your blog, shoot videos or have a podcast.

Anything and everything you create must have the 3 essential ingredients of great content applied to it…

No matter what form your content takes it’s important to understand exactly what goes into creating GREAT content.

In the video below I to share THREE life-changing, reality-altering pieces of content creation wisdom with you today, the kind people only share under threat of bodily harm HAHAHA!

Let’s recap the 3 essential ingredients of great content:

First: Listen to your audience and give them what they want

Second: Get to the point FAST

Third: Make your content easy to consume!

Finally, I want to leave you with probably the most crucial because it is not a START DOING but a STOP DOING advice…

Stop listening to people who tell you that creating content is dead, you just need to find the right topics for your audience.

If you’re ready to join the content creation revolution I am starting… join my Facebook group of big impact content creators where I will show you how to create meaningful content that gets your message out, attracts clients, and helps to build your business.
