I am afraid

Entrepreneur Mindset Tip: Stop saying I can’t because I am afraid

When I started reading the chapter I can’t because I am afraid in Steve Chandler’s book The 17 Lies That Are Holding You Back & The Truth That Will Set You Free, I immediately saw myself…

I know I have told myself this untruth ” I can’t do it because I am afraid” so many times over the course of my life.  Both out loud and sibliminally to myself, so much that it has been preprogramed into my brain at times, especially when trying to do something new.

How about you?

OMG! I can’t tell you how many times I have sabotaged myself with this silly lie.

According to Steve Chandler, we are all born fearless and somewhere along the way something happens to us and we become fearful.  This fearfulness becomes our new truth when in fact it is a big lie.

I know I use fear as an excuse for not taking action.

How about you?

You may be asking so what is it that you are so afraid of?  I’ll tell you my personal fear is about being in the public eye.  It’s safe for me to not get out and do Facebook Lives,  teach webinars, speak, create video or go to networking events.

I’m really an introvert and honestly I’d much rather stay at home and do my own thing.

How about you?  Would you rather stay safe and not do those things too?

Yet it is the next logical and necessary step for your (and mine) personal and professional growth.  If you want to grow you need to stop hiding (myself included!)

As my coach says, its time to stop hiding out and embrace taking action to do things like show up on Facebook Live, create video content,  build a podcast and teach webinars in order to reach and build a new kind of relationship with a wider audience.  Think of it this way, its all about expanding your reach so you can help more people.

It’s as simple as that.

And as a result I know you will be able to help more people, both you and I will grow by doing these things.  By trying new things such as creating video and live content you will expand your reach and be able to touch and change the lives of more people.

The truth is, I get excited when I help people, don’t you?

When I can help someone build a business that will touch and change the lives of others, I get excited.

My advice to you is to get outside of your fear(s) and talk to that young child inside of you and help them grow up.

Being afraid to act is the same as being unable to act.

You can find the courage inside of the fear when you begin to take small steps towards accomplishing whatever it is that you have let the fear stop you from doing.

I know I have.

Just the other day I filmed 4 training videos. I had put doing this off many times.

It just seemed like every Friday when I had this scheduled, something came up that preventing me from finishing this task.  I read this chapter and started thinking about my fear.  I told myself that I was going to just sit down and do it.

I really had to make myself do it mentally.

I did it.  And, while I was filming those training videos I wasn’t afraid or worried about what people would think when they watched them. I just shared my knowledge from my heart knowing that what I was teaching would help anyone who was watching the video because I know what I am teaching works.

Your courage will reveal itself when you take action, not matter how small.

Question:  What lie are you telling yourself and what action are you going to take?
