My favorite ways to use AI for content aren’t about generating from scratch. They’re about multiplying what you create: planning topics, outlining scripts, repurposing transcripts, cutting shorts and optimizing for search. Here’s the full map, in the order that saves the most time.

When AI first showed up in my content work, I used it the way most people did. I asked it to write things. The drafts were fine, and I spent hours fixing them so they sounded like me. The fix was flipping the order: I record first, and AI works from my words.

What’s the Best First Use of AI for Content?

Your best first use of AI for content is repurposing: taking something you already recorded and turning it into a blog post, email, descriptions and social posts.

It saves the most time right away, and it keeps your voice in everything, because AI is restructuring your words instead of inventing new ones. If you only use AI for one thing, use it for this. In my business it takes a 5- to 6-hour job down to about 30 minutes each week.

What Are the 5 Best Ways to Use AI for Content?

Here are the five uses that save the most time, in the order they happen each week:

  1. Planning topics. Give AI your business, your offers and a topic, then pick four topics for the month. Every topic leads back to an offer.
  2. Outlining scripts. Have AI draft an outline (hook, why it matters, main point, how to do it), then add your own stories and talk from it on camera.
  3. Repurposing transcripts. Give AI the transcript of your recording and get back the blog post, email, video descriptions and social posts.
  4. Cutting shorts. Have AI find the 20 or more moments in a long video that work as shorts and write a script for each one.
  5. Optimizing for search. Use AI for keywords, meta descriptions, titles, timestamps and alt text, and to structure posts so AI assistants can quote them.

Each one feeds the next. The plan decides the topic, the outline shapes the recording, and the recording becomes everything else.

Should AI Write Your Content From Scratch?

No. When AI writes from scratch, it fills the gaps with the average of what’s already out there, and you spend your time fixing it.

When AI works from your recording, your stories, examples and phrasing are already in the raw material. That’s the difference between content that sounds like anyone and content that sounds like you. Record first, then let AI multiply.

There are still gaps AI has to fill on its own, like headlines, subject lines and captions. That’s where it helps to train AI on your voice, audience and offers once, so those gaps sound like you too.

What Tools Do You Need?

You need just a few tools for almost all of this: Claude for the planning, outlining, repurposing and search work, and Descript for recording, transcripts, editing and cutting shorts.

I also talk to AI instead of typing. I use Wispr Flow or the microphone built into Claude, so I can give it my ideas, stories and edits out loud. It’s faster, and it sounds more like me.

You don’t need a stack of subscriptions. What matters more than the tool is what you give it: your transcript, your voice and your offers.

What To Do Next

Start with the use that saves the most time.

  1. Record one video. Ten minutes or so on a topic tied to one of your offers.
  2. Get the transcript. Descript creates it for you.
  3. Repurpose it with AI. Ask for a blog post, an email and five social posts from the transcript.
  4. Add one more use next week. Planning or shorts are the natural next steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best first use of AI for content?

Repurposing. Give AI the transcript of something you already recorded and have it create your blog post, email, descriptions and social posts. It saves the most time right away and keeps your voice in the content.

Should AI write my content from scratch?

Usually not. AI writing from scratch produces generic content you then have to fix. AI working from your own recording keeps your stories and phrasing, so the result sounds like you.

What tools do I need?

A few cover almost everything: Claude for planning, outlining, repurposing and search work, Descript for recording, transcripts, editing and cutting shorts, and Wispr Flow or Claude’s built-in microphone so you can talk to AI instead of typing.

How much time can AI save on content?

In my business, the weekly content job went from 5 to 6 hours down to about 30 minutes once AI started repurposing one weekly recording into everything else.
