Key Takeaways

  • A Claude skill built for your content can turn one long video transcript into 20+ short-form scripts in under a minute.
  • The scripts come from what you already said, so they sound like you and carry your real examples.
  • Batch filming on an iPhone takes 15 to 20 minutes for 14 to 20 videos.
  • Descript handles captions, filler words, eye contact and sound, so editing takes about 5 minutes per video.

My short-form script skill in Claude turns one long video transcript into 20+ short-form video scripts in under a minute. I film them in one batch on my iPhone, edit each one in Descript in about five minutes, and publish. The first short I made this way passed 500 views within a few hours.

For a long time, short-form video felt like a second job. Every short needed its own idea, its own script and its own filming session. I already had long videos full of good material, so I built a Claude skill to find the shorts hiding inside them.

Here’s the whole process, step by step.

How Does AI Write Short-Form Video Scripts?

AI writes short-form video scripts by reading your long video transcript, finding the moments that stand on their own, and turning each one into a short script with a hook, one idea and a payoff.

That’s what my script skill does. A skill is a saved set of instructions in Claude, so I set it up once with my voice, my audience and what a strong short looks like, and it follows those rules every time. I give it the transcript from a long video, and in under a minute it hands back 20 or more scripts, each ready to film.

What matters most is where the scripts come from. The skill isn’t inventing ideas. It’s pulling them from something I already said, in my own words. That’s why the scripts sound like me and why the examples in them are real.

What’s the Three-Step Short-Form Video Process?

There are three steps: create the scripts with AI, film them in one batch, and edit them quickly in Descript.

  1. Script creation. Give your script skill the long video transcript and get back 20+ ready-to-film scripts.
  2. Batch filming. Set up your iPhone once and film the scripts back to back.
  3. Fast editing. Use Descript to clean up each video, add captions and publish.

Each step is short on purpose. The goal is to make shorts a byproduct of the video you already recorded, not a separate project.

How Do You Film Short-Form Videos in One Batch?

You film short-form videos in one batch by setting up once, keeping your scripts in front of you, and recording one after another without stopping to edit.

I use my iPhone. I set up the light and the shot one time, then work through the scripts in order. Each one is short, so there’s no need to memorize anything. I read the hook, talk through the idea and deliver the payoff.

Filming 14 to 20 videos this way takes me 15 to 20 minutes. If a take isn’t right, I do it again right then and move on. The editing happens later, all at once.

How Does Descript Speed Up Editing?

Descript speeds up editing by doing the slow parts for you: captions, filler words, eye contact and sound.

Here’s what I use it for on every short:

  • Automatic captions, so the video works with the sound off.
  • One-click filler word removal, so the ums and ahs disappear.
  • Eye contact correction, so I don’t have to reshoot when I glanced at my script.
  • Studio Sound, so a phone recording sounds clean.
  • Publishing straight to YouTube with the description filled in.

With all of that handled, each video takes me about five minutes to edit and publish.

What Results Can You Expect?

You can expect to spend minutes instead of hours on short-form video, and in my case, the first test short passed 500 views within a few hours of posting.

Here’s how my time breaks down now:

  • Script creation: under 1 minute.
  • Batch filming: 15 to 20 minutes for 14 to 20 videos.
  • Editing and publishing: about 5 minutes per video.

You don’t need fancy equipment or editing skills for any of this. An iPhone, a transcript and a couple of tools are enough.

This is one piece of my Content to Cash Machine Framework, the system I use so one recording keeps bringing in leads long after I film it.

What To Do Next

Take your most recent long video and try this once.

  1. Get the transcript. Pull it from Descript or YouTube.
  2. Find the shorts. Ask AI to pull out the moments that stand alone and write a short script for each one, with a hook, one idea and a payoff.
  3. Batch film. Set up once and record five scripts in a row.
  4. Edit in one sitting. Add captions and cut filler words in Descript, then publish.
